Trained at Sir John Cass College in London, Jocelyn Burton's career was launched dramatically in 1967 when, while still a student, she won the De Beers International Design Award for the design of diamond jewellery. Since then, she has gone from strength to strength and has been honoured in successive years by the UK Jewellery Trade. In 1995, she won the Designer of the Year Award and in 1997 won, for the second time, the Diamonds-International Award sponsored by De Beers. In that same year, she was voted Designer of the Year in the UK Jewellery Award. Two years later in 1999 she won the Gold Council Necklace Award. Jocelyn Burton's work is to be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum, St. Paul's Cathedral, Goldsmiths' Hall, 10 Downing Street and the palace of Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum of Dubai. Jocelyn has completed commissions for many of the Worshipful City Companies, also for members of the Royal Families in this country and abroad. Her work was shown in 2001-2002 in the Living Silver exhibition at the Gilbert Collection, Somerset House in London. |
